World Cup 2010 in South Africa ? an overview of the matches

The fever is back. It is not the common one but the nose for everybody, the 2010 football championship. Majority of the people are anticipating its finale as who will win as the best. Aside from the prize money, trophy, prestige and fame as the best team in the whole world comes with winning the championship. Let us take an overview of this year tournament.

The venue for 2010 World Cup Football (VM fodbold) is South Africa. The tournament will be presented in various African cities like Port Elizabeth, Pretoria, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Bloemfontein and Durban. The tournament kicks off on June 11 and culminates on July 11, 2010. The championship match will be held at the Soccer Stadium located in Johannesburg. The qualifying teams enlist 30 players to participate in the event. But, the final count will be down to 23. It is every player’s passion to play for in behalf for their country during World Cup. This could be a dream that turns into a reality for some yet disappointment for the others. Here is brief overview of the participating countries in the world cup.

●     Group A – this consist of South Africa, France, Uruguay and Mexico. In this tournament, France will be playing with the absence of Patrick Vieira, Real Madrid, and Nasri. Matches between South Africa and France open the tournament. Mexico on the other hand showcases a young squad. For Uruguay, they are not playing with Cristian Rodriguez due to its suspension.

●     Group B – this consist of South Korea, Greece, Nigeria and Argentina. The Argentines are playing without Lucho Gonzalez, Gago, Cambiasso and Javier Zanetti while it picks the mysterious trio of Juan Insaurralde, Sebastian Blanco and Ariel Garce. The Greeks on the other side are still playing with Patsatzoglou and Seitaridis. Nigerian also keeps its veteran player like Kanu. Lastly, South Korean’s are playing with its veteran Jung-hwan.

●     Group C – this includes Algeria, Slovenia, USA and England. England is playing with the absence of players Pal Scholes who already retired and David Beckham for suffering an injury. Freddy Adu is not playing in this tournament while Charlie Davies is excluded for its car accident. No surprises for Algeria since they are bringing their powerhouse European contingent. Slovenia on the other hand plays with Tim Matavz. This is there second appearance in world cup.

●     Group D- this includes Australia, Ghana, Germany, and Serbia. Germany is playing with Dennis Aogo and Holder Badstuber. Serbia showcases its powerhouse line up while Ghana is playing with Essien. Australia are playing with there injured athletes like Harry Kewell.

These are just few of the big surprises the 2010 World Cup Football (‘VM Fodbold‘ in Danish) will unfold. With the absence of key players and appearances of the rookies, surely this would be an exciting match to look forward to.
